My Story

My name is Dave Horn and I am a retired teacher living in Urbana.  I am a lifelong cyclist and have worked on bikes my entire life, and for the past two years I worked part-time as bicycle mechanic at a small shop in Eldersburg.  Due to the shop closing this spring I decided to open a small repair business out of my basement.

The idea came to me while volunteering at Centerville ES during the Cub Scout Bicycle Rodeo.  I was running a skills station and I noticed that very, very few of the kids bikes were what I would consider "safe and ready."  Most had poor brake adjustments, nearly flat tires, gears out of adjustments, loose handlebars, etc...  I did what I could and even spoke to a few parents about my concern for safety (some of the kids were riding with zero brakes!).  Afterwards it occured to me that I could inspect and repair bikes right from home.

So, if you are looking to have you or your child's bike inspected, tuned, and/or repaired, let me know.  I can pick-up and drop-off also.  Free estimates for repairs.

Basic Safety Inspection and Tune-up

Most local bike shops are charging $95 and up for a basic safety inspection and tune-up.  I am doing this mostly for enjoyment and as a service to the neighborhood, so this summer I am charging only $35.

Parts

I have some basic parts in-stock but, if any parts are needed that I don't have I will simply order them online (usually Amazon) and add the cost to the bill.
